In the Woods there grew a tree - Folk Horror Hex Crawl module for LIMINAL HORROR

''You wake up, a headache crushes your thoughts. A strange taste in your mouth, you become aware that it is dark around you and beyond this oppressive atmosphere, what comes to your ears are notes of percussion music as well as sincere laughter''.

In the woods there grew a tree and a fine fine tree was he is a folk horror Hex Crawl for a facilitator and a player, adapted for the game Liminal horror. Without much difficulty, the whole thing can be adapted for other horrific role playing games.

The module is designed to be run by a single facilitator and a player, but it's not hard to adapt it to include a few more players (victims) ! The horrific sub-genre that is exploited here is the folk horror. We are far from gothic castles and Lovecraftian horrors from outer space. 

In this misadventure, the player character must quickly and carefully flee a rural community that is engaged in an annual festival in honor of the ancient woodland gods. 

Alone and unarmed, the character will have to show subterfuge and ingenuity if he wants to find the way out of this place that mixes laughter and human sacrifice. 

Without further ado, start the maypole song and discover the horrible and the strange that lurks between the pages of In the woods there grew a tree and a fine fine tree was he.

Warning : This module addresses topics that may be sensitive, such as torture, murder, human and animal sacrifice, drug use, mental humiliation, descriptions of sexual acts and physical violence.

Personal note : I have no prejudice towards people who may share similar or different religious or cultural beliefs than mine. What is discussed in this module is fiction, and any similarity to the real world or real events is caused by mere chance. The use of the masculine gender includes the feminine, and is employed solely to facilitate reading. 

My native language is not English, it is possible that the PDF will be updated from time to time to refine some sentences and improve the overall linguistic quality. 

Before you start, make sure you have the rules of the Liminal horror role-playing game. The adventure is compatible with the rules of this minimalist game, but it wouldn't be difficult to adapt it to your favorite horror game, either.

Liminal Horror is a role playing game designed by GoblinArchives. It's a wonderful gem that deserves a lot of attention.
